Edoardo Scarpa graduated in Biotechnology at the University of Salento (2009). Then, he obtained the MSc cum Laude in Medical Biotechnologies at the University of Parma (2011). After relocating in the British south-west coast, he obtained the MRes (2013) and PhD (2017) in Biomedical Science at the University of Southampton. He has been Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Southampton (2017) and University College London (2017-2019), and then became scientific project co-ordinator for SomaNautix Limited (2019-2020). From January 2021 he is the senior postdoc within the Infection Dynamics lab at UniMi and INGM. Over the course of the years Edo has investigated the use of nanoparticles, particularly polymersomes, as drug delivery system for various applications ranging from bone regeneration to brain cancer, inflammation and infection. Currently, he is looking for the links between chronic infections and cellular senescence.

Besides science Edo is passionate about sport, music and travelling.
