PhD opening

We are searching for PhD students willing to investigate how cellular senescence is induced during infection and how this state contributes to chronic bacterial persistence. Our lab is pioneering a novel therapeutic approach that exploits senescence as a therapeutic vulnerability, designing antimicrobial strategies that selectively eliminate senescent, pathogen-harboring cells without harming healthy tissues.

Please send your CV, academic transcripts, a motivation letter, and contact details of at least one referee to Edoardo.scarpa@unimi.it  and  Loris.Rizzello@unimi.it. Make sure to include “PhD position application” in the email subject line.

Please note: Due to restrictions related to the project’s start, only EU/UK citizens or students already residing in Europe will be considered.

Starting Date: November 1st, 2025

General opportunities

We are always pleased to consider expressions of interest from prospective postdocs, PhD students, and Master’s students. Additionally, we welcome researchers who are interested in applying for postdoctoral fellowships. We are happy to support strong candidates in their applications and host them in our lab.

If you are interested, please send your CV and a cover letter to Loris.Rizzello@unimi.it, with a copy to Edoardo.Scarpa@unimi.it.
